As accreted Advisor of the Government of the Republic of Vanuatu, we trying to identify projects and investment partners who may be able to assist our country. As you may well know, Vanuatu is a Least Developed country and does not have a large vast land or natural resources that other countries have. We are a chain of 83 inhabited islands and the quickest and most viable way of travelling around our islands is by plane.

In addition to this, Vanuatu sits just 3 hours from Australia and 3 hours from New Zealand. We have a more central location in the South Western Pacific than Fiji. However, we do not have an International Airport that can cater for long haul flights from Los Angeles (USA), Hong Kong (China SAR) or from South America.

For this reason, I have made it my priority to identify key partners which the Government can enter into agreement with. In 2008, Vanuatu enacted as legislation the Privately Financed Airport Infrastructure Projects Act No. 20 of 2008. A copy of the Act and its amendment can be made available on request.

The Act was made to promote and facilitate the implementation of privately financed airport infrastructure projects, and for related projects. The Act is self-explanatory and is made with the intention to allow for fair dealing between Government and Investor — in a Public Private Partnership.

I am pleased to know that your consortium is interested in joining hands with us for the upgradation of our Airport on International standards to cater to our ever-growing tourism industry on a fast pace. I acknowledge and express my keen interest to get a JV or collateral funding to upscale the existing airport.

I extend my acceptance to enter a business agreement after you send a letter of interest in response to this acceptance. In response to your letter of interest and the details of the step-by-step process for starting this project, I will send your consortium an official invitation to visit Vanuatu with your team to finalize the details with Vanuatu government. It goes without saying that I will fully support your company in this matter and accompany the process through to the signing of the contract.

VANUATU: AIRPORT & AIRLINES

Bauerfield International Airport (IATA: VLI, ICAO: NVVV) is an airport located in Port Vila, Vanuatu. The airport is relatively small in size, but its runway has the capability and length to accept jets up to the Airbus A330. It serves as the hub for Vanuatu’s flag carrier airline, Air Vanuatu.
There are only two international airports and only the capital Port Vila is served by foreign airlines. Port Vila is served by only five foreign airlines – Aircalin, Air Niugini, Fiji Airways, Solomon Airlines and Virgin Australia – which combined account for approximately one third of international seat capacity.
Air Vanuatu is Vanuatu’s national flag carrier, with its head office in the Air Vanuatu House, Port Vila, Vanuatu. The main hub of this airline is Bauerfield International Airport, Port Vila.It operates 28 domestic routes throughout the country and six international routes to Australia, New Caledonia and New Zealand.
