Each of these investment routes is subject to additional government and legal fees and grants residency investors the right to obtain a renewable 5-year temporary residence permit (TRP) in Latvia. This permit gives you residence and work privileges in the country, as well as unrestricted travel throughout the Schengen area.

There is no minimum length of stay to maintain TRP eligibility.

However, each 5-year TRP (except the government bond option) requires annual renewal of the eID Residency Card, which is a quick procedure but requires an in-person appointment in Latvia. After five years, the TRP can be extended for a further term if investment requirements continue to exist. For those residents who plan to live in Latvia and learn the language, there is an opportunity to apply for permanent residency after five years and citizenship after another five-year term.

After preparing all relevant documents, Latvian RBI investors can apply at the respective Latvian embassies worldwide or, if they come from an eligible country and can legally enter the Schengen area, submit their application documents directly in Riga.
