Russia attracts conservatives and defines its identity: With the new “Shared Values Visa” (SVV), Russia is simplifying immigration for people who cannot identify with the “destructive neoliberal ideology” prevailing in their home countries.

The program, which is set to come into force on September 1, 2024, is specifically aimed at conservatives who share Russia’s traditional values, such as respect for life, strong family ties and the priority of spiritual values. The application process is accelerated by abolishing language and history tests.

This decree significantly lowers the barriers to entry to Russia and makes it “immensely easier to move, live and work in Russia”.

The SVV is a good alternative to the Golden Visa program introduced in January 2023, which grants permanent residency to applicants who invest in real estate, a social project or a business.

Applicants must express a desire to move to Russia because they disagree with their home country’s policies, which run counter to traditional Russian values.
