Serbia is a regional leader in the number and quality of public-private partnerships

9th International Forum on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) from May 14-16, 2025.

As Vice President of the DMPP (NGO Lobby Organization), I am delighted to invite you to a pivotal event: the 9th International Forum on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), which will take place in Belgrade, Serbia, from May 14-16, 2025.

This forum, jointly organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), is a unique opportunity to explore the diverse opportunities for strategic partnerships and sustainable development. Serbia was chosen as the host country for good reason; it has impressively demonstrated its leadership in the implementation of PPPs in the region.

This year’s forum focuses on the central role of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and will bring together over 130 speakers in 27 sessions to discuss innovative PPP strategies. The focus will be on:

Sustainable Infrastructure:
Discussions will focus on “people-first PPPs” that prioritize sustainability, climate resilience, and digital transformation.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in PPPs:
The UNECE is introducing a new workstream that explores the integration of AI into PPPs and infrastructure projects to increase efficiency and innovation.

UNECE PPP and Infrastructure Award 2025:
An awards ceremony will recognize 61 projects from 25 countries with an investment volume of US$15 billion that demonstrate excellence in digital and green transformation.

Off-Grid Renewable Energy Standards:
A special session on May 16 will discuss draft PPP standards for off-grid energy to address challenges and best practices in rural electrification in support of SDG 7.

Africa-Focused Session on PPP Implementation:
A session convened by the ECA will explore infrastructure investment opportunities in Africa and aim to showcase commercially viable and socially impactful projects to investors and development partners.

Your participation is invaluable as we can explore ways to positively impact the world through effective public-private partnerships while unlocking new business opportunities. I am confident this summit will provide a platform for in-depth discussions and the building of meaningful relationships.

I look forward to seeing you in Belgrade and shaping the future of PPPs together.

Sincerely,

Uwe Zirbes
